Beyond the Dirty Cleats
This year's Super Bowl Game was definitely worth the price of admission, especially if you like the New Orleans Saints. Not much of a football fan, I usually enjoy the commercials and half-time show more than the game itself. However, this year I watched the game with a group of friends that included a former New Orleans resident Laura Menkes. This girl loves her team! Hooting, hollering and high-fiving are incredibly infectious. I guess I am now an official fan of the Saints.
As I watched the game I couldn't help but wonder if the stylishness of their uniforms affects their playing. After all, we all know how a "bad hair day" or "bad outfit" can put a spin on even the most mundane days. What if the player really doesn't like his uniform and he must wear it at the Super Bowl? Do players get uniform envy? I think I would have a problem if I were a player with the Indianapolis Colts and I had to wear that eighties cobalt blue for every game. The Saints looked cute in their "gangsta" black and gold
I decided to do a little research and found a story Tommy Hick's of the Press-Register did about week back where he surveyed Senior Bowl All-Star football players and asked them (amongst other things) which teams they think have the best-looking college and NFL uniforms. Here's what they said:
What college team has the best-looking uniform?
Oregon: 18
Florida, Texas, Missouri: 3
Cincinnati, Penn St., USC, Cal, Virginia Tech, TCU, Miami, Florida State 2
What NFL team has the best-looking uniform?
Chargers: 6
Bengals: 5
Saints, Dolphins, Ravens: 4
Colts, Cardinals, Cowboys: 3

STYLE TRIBE caught up with Sasha Stajic of Sasha Boutique in Laguna Beach to find out more about her store...
Sasha: We opened in November of '08, so a little over a year ago.
ST: How would you describe the Sasha customer?
Sasha: She's fashionable, sophisticated, and casual. We call her the bohemian-sophisticate!
ST: What designers do you carry?
Sasha: Important designers for me going into Spring and Summer are Charlene K, Goldsign, Plastic Island, BB Dakota, 12th Street by Cynthia Vincent, Goddis, Michelle Jonas, Free People, Steven by Steve Madden, Pour La Victoire, Barton Perreira, and of course the Sasha brand!
ST: I know shoes is a big part of your business. Give me a sense of your product mix?
Sasha: We're about 40% shoes, 40% clothing, and 20% jewelry and designer sunglasses.
ST: What are your hottest selling items?
Sasha: I really try to carry items that are unusual and hard to find in department stores. So, my unique jewelry and shoes always sell out!
ST: What are the big trends you see taking hold in Laguna Beach?
Sasha: My customer's uniform is the denim legging, oversized and casual top with a flat boot. This look will carry her through Spring!
ST: What else should we know about Sasha?
Sasha: No matter what your mood is or how much you have in your pocket, you will always have a good time at Sasha's. You can pick up one little necklace or a whole gorgeous outfit. We LOVE laughing and visiting with our customers, and you will either find myself, my mom, or the fashionista of Laguna, Melissa, working.
